Never Met Picasso

A subtle, richly textured family drama that features an exceptionally good acting ensemble. Gay actor Alexis Arquette stars as Andrew, an aspiring painter who lives with his actress mother (Margot Kidder) and is mentored by his elderly gay uncle Alfred. The setting is the Boston art world where young Andrew, in the midst of a creative and emotional funk, becomes involved with a worldly historian (Don McKellar). While Andrew learns lessons of love, his hitherto heterosexual mom is being methodically seduced by sculptor Lucy (Georgia Ragsdale). As the tale unfolds, its not sex or love that releases Andrew from his creative block, but his painter uncles romantic but tragic past.
