A laugh out loud parody of classic crime dramas and noirs from Double Indemnity and Basic Instinct to Fatal Attraction, director Carl Reiner's (The Jerk) Fatal Instinct has its tongue planted firmly in cheek.
Sultry and seductive Lola Cain (Sean Young, Blade Runner) is having an affair with Ned Ravine (Armande Assante, Unfaithfully Yours), a married policeman and lawyer who often represents those he's arrested. But their affair comes to an abrupt end when Ned realizes how much he loves his wife Lana (Kate Nelligan, Prince of Tides). As fate would have it, Lana is carrying on an affair with her mechanic, Frank Kelbo (Christopher McDonald, Chances Are) with whom she's plotting to kill Ned for the insurance money, a policy that comes with a triple indemnity rider.
Carl Reiner's Fatal Instinct (written for the screen by David O'Malley, The Boogens) offers rib-tickling laughs courtesy of a cast that includes Sherilyn Fenn (TV's Twin Peaks) as Laura, Ned's dedicated secretary; James Remar (Django Unchained) as thug Max Shady; and Tony Randall (Pillow Talk) as Judge Skanky.
