Angry over the surrender of the Confederacy, Colonel Jonas Allen leads his three sons in a desperate battle to help the South rise again from defeat. They ambush and massacre an entire company of Union Cavalry and make off with millions in Federal currency. Jonas intends to use the fortune to finance the Confederate Army and restart hostilities. Armed with a permit granting them permission to return a slain officer's body for burial, they load the money in a coffin and hire a prostitute to pose as the dead soldier's widow. Although they manage to elude army checkpoints with their ruse, the perilous trail home will be littered with corpses before the journey's end.
