Based on a famous 1930's novel by Tadeusz Dolega-Mostowicz

The dramatic story of an outstanding surgeon who suddenly loses his memory after being mugged and finds himself doing odd jobs on country farms. When he runs across a young man who desperately needs medical attention, he takes it upon himself to help the young man out. The Quack is the second rendition from the popular novel. The first was made by Michal Wasynski in 1937.

Born on March 15, 1932, in Cracow, Jerzy Hoffman graduated from Moscow VGIK High Film Institute (1955). His large-scale costume adaptations of classic Polish historical novels became some of the biggest box-office successes in Polish cinematic history. His 1974 movie, The Deluge, earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Film.
