IMAX: Best Of Oceans Collection - Galapagos / Into The Deep / Survial Island (3 Pack)

IMAX: Galapagos

Descend 3,000 feet to an area of the ocean floor never before seen by humankind. The mission: collect rare and unusual species for study at the Smithsonian and elsewhere- all part of a real life exploration that will discover what is believed to be more than a dozen new species of life.

Shot on the famed archipelago and in its surrounding waters, Galapagos follows marine biologist Dr. Carole Baldwin as she makes her initial venture into that world first chronicled for science 160 years earlier by Charles Darwin. The tools for Baldwin's team are far different than anything Darwin used, yet one thing is unchanged. The Galapagos Islands remain a stunningly abundant laboratory for exploration.

IMAX: Into The Deep

Come on in, the water's fine. And full of amazing things. Things like: a hungry starfish loping voraciously across a panicked, living "shag carpet" of prey; a swarming frenzy of opalescent squid who mate, then die; plus things never before caught on film - including sea lions who just might be using kelp stalks as toothbrushes. Kate Nelligan narrates and renowned marine-life filmmaker Howard Hall directs this colorful foray into the kelp forests located off California's Channel Islands. So lights, camera, water. A cast of thousands is ready for its amazing close-up.

IMAX: Survival Island

Sir David Attenborough's first foray into IMAX has produced 40 minutes of the most stunning giant-screen footage ever shot of animals in the wild. From the dramatic to the comical, Survival Island follows the magical return each year of animals to the sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia. The island, the only land for thousands of square miles suitable for breeding, hosts half the word's population of elephant seals (up to 6,000 on one beach), 500,000 penguins, the world's largest colony of albatross and receives about 2-million southern fur seals which breed there annually. King of the beach are the 20-foot-long bull elephant seals - impossible to ignore!

Survival Island was filmed in the IMAX format and exhibited in IMAX theaters worldwide. This video version is digitally mastered from the original 70MM film elements with the sound components specially mixed and mastered to produce the highest quality Dolby Surround soundtrack.
