Surrender Dorothy

A dark comedy of gender manipulation.

A bold and compelling psychosexual cross-dressing drama that offers a different, and, in many ways, decidedly controversial twist in its treatment of same-sex relationships. Apartment Zero meets Blue Velvet through the eyes of Harold Pinter in this low-budget, black-and-white tale that is infused with moments of both intense drama and black comedy. Essentially a two-character story grittily enacted out in a dank factory loft, the story focuses on two young men: 26-year-old Trevor (Peter Pryor), an angry, sexually confused busboy tormented with an intense fear of women, and Lanh (director DiNovis), a addict who needs a place to crash after stealing a stash from his former roommate. But what begins as a simple house-sharing arrangement quickly escalates into a frenzied battle of manipulation, co-dependency and gender-bending submission as the emboldened Trevor lures Lanh, with the promise of , into becoming Dorothy, Trevor's demented concept of his ideal girlfriend. A troubling but bracing departure from the often times "positive" approach prevalent in gay-themed films today.
