Four years before Stonewall, Secter made this small film that portrayed a gay crush and the young men didn't commit suicide, wear drag, walk with a mince or speak with a lisp - in Hollywood that would have been suicide for the film! Winter Kept Us Warm was the first gay film ever screened at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival; and there must have been quite a fuss made when the all those beautiful college boy's naked butts appeared in the shower room scene.
