2013 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (Blu-ray + DVD Combo)
With its trademark speed and explosiveness on both offense and defense, Oregon (12-1) cruised to a 35-17 win over Kansas State (11-2) in the 2013 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
Speedy running back De'Anthony Thomas fielded the opening kickoff and darted 94 yards down the right sideline for a touchdown to give Oregon a lead it would never lose just 12 seconds into the game. Thomas scored again with four minutes left in the first quarter on a 23-yard pass from quarterback Marcus Mariota.
Employing its methodical and sound approach, Kansas State climbed back into the game with two second-quarter scores - a six-yard touchdown run by the Cats' senior quarterback Collin Klein and a 25-yard field goal by Anthony Cantele. Momentum appeared to be on the side of the Cats, but Kenjon Barner scored on a quick-strike 24-yard TD pass from Mariota to close out the half and put Oregon up 22-10. The Ducks' powerful defense limited K-State to just one more score - a touchdown in the fourth quarter - while two Alejandro Maldonado field goals and a Mariota touchdown run sealed the deal for the Ducks.
Barner ran for 143 yards on 30 carries, while Mariota passed for 166 yards and two scores. The Oregon defense limited the Heisman Trophy finalist Klein to just 30 yards rushing and f-rced two interceptions.
It was a fitting ending to a season in which both Oregon and Kansas State were at the top of the BCS rankings.
