Royal Tenenbaum (Gene Hackman) and his wife, Etheline (Anjelica Huston), had three children - Chas, Margot, and Richie, and then they separated. Chas (Ben Stiller) started buying real estate in his early teens and seemed to have an almost preternatural understanding of international finance.
