Smother the demons
eighteen years after his unexplained departure, Cornelius Rawling (writer and director Michael Tully) returns to his family's Tennessee farm to find his parents dead, but little else different. His brother Amos (Onur Tukel) works on grotesque expressionist painting combining demonic imagery and football, while repressed neat-and Jesus-freak Ezra (Robert Longstreet, The Oregonian) tends to housekeeping religiously. Cornelius, an unlikely athletic savant, hustles unsuspecting strangers in town to support his huffing habit. When a toilet overflows and a familiar looking plumber appears with a beautiful young girl by his side, the mystery of why Cornelius left starts to unravel. Blackly comic, touchingly humane, visually striking, genuinely unsettling - this genre-bending tonally unique film is unlike anything you've ever seen before.
