Good show, bad package - 3.75 out of 5 (2/25/2002)
I've never been a fan of Gary Shandling. I suppose it's bad form to start
out with that statement, but it's true. I've never found his nebbish guy
routine funny and my personal pet peeve is comedians who whine how badly the
world treats them.
But there was only one medium in which I could watch Gary Shandling and
that was on HBO in THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW. This was the original show that
stretched the boundaries for HBO and it earned its reputation as one of the

Skip to the last paragraph if you already know how great the Larry Sanders show is, and are only interested in a technical review of the DVD.
Instead of taking a job as a real life talk show host, Garry Shandling thought it would be more interesting to make a comedy series about being a talk show host. And he was right.
