Synopsis
This isia Blu-Ray DVD madeifor Blue-laser Format players which produce higher quality picture andisound.

Casino Royale introduces James Bond before he holds his license to kill. But Bond is no less dangerous, and with two professional assassinations in quick succession, he is elevated to "00" status. "M" (Judi Dench), head of the British Secret Service, sends the newly-promoted 007 on his first mission that takes him to Madagascar, the Bahamas and eventually leads him to Montenegro to face Le Chiffre, a ruthless financier under threat from his terrorist clientele, who is attempting to restore his funds in a high-stakes poker game at the Casino Royale. "M" places Bond under the watchful eye of the Treasury official Vesper Lynd. At first skeptical of what value Vesper can provide, Bond's interest in her deepens as they brave danger together. Le Chiffre's cunning and cruelty come to bear on them both in a way Bond could never imagine, and he learns his most important lesson: Trust no one.

Bond: Reloaded - 4 out of 5  (3/12/2007)
No gadgets. No "Q". No Moneypenny. No quick-witted one-liners. No, not even a dashing GQ model in the lead role. Casino Royale is certainly not your father's James Bond...and the results are a mixed bag. You can't blame producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson for wanting to "reboot" Bond. While Pierce Brosnan's Bond movies were the most successful in the franchise's history, the series had turned into a parody of itself, with each new one trying to outdo the previous entr   more >>

Start fresh (with BD) and get back to basics with Bond! - 4.5 out of 5  (8/6/2007)
The decision to start fresh and get back to basics was the best thing to happen to the Bond films since the early Sean Connery days. I think about how silly and ridiculous the villains and Bond himself became in the 70s and 80s. This is a very raw and realistic beginning to what I hope continues with our new James Bond. When you think about it, the Austin Powers spoof on the Bond collective was almost no spoof at all. Things had really gotten almost that bad! PQ is reference material and sou   more >>

A Good Direction and Great on Blu-ray - 3.75 out of 5  (6/18/2007)
Keeping it short, the film is a nice change in direction for the franchise, and Bond character. You can keep your invisible cars and women named after body parts in slang. Yes, it's a movie, but this Bond flick is actually 'believable'. On Blu-ray, the film really comes to life. Even the untrained ear will hear a major difference (in the PCM uncompressed audio mode) in the audio tracks versus traditional DVD; very distinct on what you hear from each speaker at any point in time.
