Bold, powerful and starkly realistic, this chilling cinematic debut of horror master Wes Craven (Scream) is a shocking journey into the heart of evil. Written and directed with "almost unbearable dramatic tension" (Chicago Sun Times), The Last House on the Left will make you deadbolt your doors and frantically mutter: "It's only a movie... it's only a movie... it's only a movie.!"
Easy going Mari Collingwood and her fun loving friend Phyllis are on their way to a Bloodlust concert to celebrate Mari's 17th birthday when three escaped convicts kidnap and torture them. But Mari and Phyllis are fighters, and although they are drugged and beaten into unconsciousness, stuffed in a car trunk and driven into the woods for even more brutality, they are still alive.... But for how long?

The best they could with what they had! - 3.5 out of 5 (8/8/2002)
Just keep repeating to yourself "it's only a movie, only a movie, only a
movie."
And to be truthful, it isn't even a very good movie. In fact LAST HOUSE ON
THE LEFT is probably one of the worst movies you will ever see, but the
notoriety it has achieved over the years makes you think you are seeing THE
GODFATHER of horror films.
But the real film is high camp indeed. The first few moments show a girl
showering to the strains of seventies music and you get the feeling that you

Weird - 3 out of 5 (12/30/2004)
It's as though two directors decided to make the film from two totally different perpespctives, each without consulting the other. Then they took the finished product, cut it into pieces and joined them together. It's a bloodthirsty, horror, comedy. I guess that's the best way of describing it. Worth a look, but don't say you weren't warned!

Terrible movie, but a worthwhile DVD, nonetheless. - 2.75 out of 5 (2/16/2004)
This is one of the worst movies I have ever sat through. I don't have a problem with violence in films - quite the contrary! However, movies like 'Hannibal' and 'A Clockwork Orange' have a lot of violence but they also have a certain class. The violence in this one is meaningless and wasteful and the whole thing is trash.
However, Wes Craven's and Sean S. Cunningham's commentary on the film is very entertaining.
