poetry beyond our deserts - 4 out of 5 (1/16/2002)
This is the first film we will be showing in our neighborhood cinema club (we meet at my house to view what anyone thinks is their FIND of the moment.
Samuel Jackson is very restrained and delicate in his performance. He gives nothing away. One suspects but cannot be sure what is in his mind and heart.
The fabulous flashbacks thrust between the scenes
jolted us into an awareness of time passing and yet present as has no other film I have ever seen. What a wonderful and disturbing experience.
