I've always been amazed at what foreign films have been able to get away
with in the world of film criticism. BAISE MOI takes that amazement and
cranks it up to eleven, because here we have a film that it little more than
NATURAL BORN KILLERS mixed with a healthy dose of pornography and the
critics seem to be falling all over themselves to make it a classic.

Move over Thelma and Louise ... - 3 out of 5 (1/11/2003)
This sets the new benchmark for the female 'buddy movie'. Not for the faint-hearted, this powerful film has some violent scenes (there's also a fairly sily scene--in the club--but we can let that one slide) and explicit sex to boot.

Sure, Baise Moi explodes like a molotov cocktail concoction of graphic sexuality and merciless violence, but wait... If absorbed from a different angle, one might see the importance of such a film. First of all, there is no argument about the "quality" of film - it's grainy and amateurish. But hey, this is supposed to be an "indie" film, not Hollywood's version of an indie film. If you can't resist the warnings on the cover and feel you must buy this movie (like myself), then be prepared to be disappointed. The story is weak, the composition of shots are horrible, and if the dialogue was in English I'm sure the acting would suck too. The video quality is so bad that it's almost impossible to watch.
