The snobs against theislobs
Greenskeeper Carl Spackler (Bill Murray) is about to start World War III - against a gopher. Pompous Judge Smails (Ted Knight) plays to win, but his nubile niece, Lacey Underall (Cindy Morgan), wants to score her own way. Playboy Ty Webb (Chevy Chase) shoots perfect golf by becoming the ball. And country club loudmouth Al Czervik (Rodney Dangerfield) just doubled a $20,000 bet on a 10-foot putt. Insanity? No. Caddyshack.
Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield, Bill Murray and Ted Knight tee off for a side-splitting round of fairway foolishness that does for golf what National Lampoon's Animal House did for fraternities and Police Academy did for law enforcement. With hitmaker Harold Ramis (National Lampoon's Vacation, Analyze This) in the director's chair, the virtuoso comic skills of all four blend into a riotous hole-in-one for comedy fans. In Caddyshack, the term "golf nut" takes on a deranged double meaning -- and nonstop laughter is par for the course!

Let's hear it for the slobs! - 4.25 out of 5 (1/25/2001)
"So he says to me, 'on your deathbed, you will have total consciousness.' So I got that going for me!"
I was just skimming some old reviews and I found one of Roger Ebert's early reviews on "Caddyshack." In the review,he "panned the film for never finding a consistent comic note of it's own."
Which leads me to ask: Do film critics seem to miss the boat most of the time? I consider myself in this group and I have often admitted that I'm a lousy critic, but to say that this film is not origi

Great Comedy. - 4.5 out of 5 (6/9/2003)
Very crude but hilarious work from first-time director Harold Ramis (Vacation). Without that gopher, this movie would be nothing! I thought there would be more features for a 20th Anniversary Edition, but the Documentary was good enough (so were the long trailer and cast bios). Overall, a great buy! "Did somebody step on a duck?"

The Snobs versus the Slobs - 4.5 out of 5 (6/24/2002)
This is most likely the funniest movie ever made. Caddyshack makes American Pie seem tame in comparison. A very funny documentary accompanies this DVD with Chevy Chase, Cindy Morgan and Harold Ramis all contributing. My sides still hurt when Judge Smaells tells his grandson "Well don't just sit there, go get some glue!" Buy this DVD today.
