Empire Review Try as it might Joel can't get Clementine out of his mind - 4.75 out of 5  (9/29/2004) It is a common thought after a difficult breakup in a love affair for the parties to think to themselves, 'if only I could forget'. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind explores this as if as reality. In this strange world created by Charlie Kaufman and Michael Gondry it is possible to specifically target and remove memories of another person. Joel (Jim Carrey) and Clementine (Kate Winslet) were lovers; to their mutual dismay their affair ended miserably prompting Clementine to seek the service   more >> Customer Review A masterful work of art; both funny and dramatic! - 4.25 out of 5  (3/15/2005) One of the best and most original films to come around in years, this movie has gained itself top spot as my favourite film next to Requiem For A Dream. The story is about a lonely man named Joel who realizes his girlfriend Clementine has had an operation done to remove every memory of their bittersweet relationship from her mind. This is when Joel decides to also have the operation done, but in the process of removing the memories, Joel discovers he still loves Clementine more than anyth   more >> Customer Review GREAT! WATCH AT LEAST 30min. before turning off, you won't be disappointed!!! - 3.25 out of 5  (10/26/2004) This movie was exceptional. I was thrilled by its twists and plot at the end. I will say the first moments are rather unorganized, leading one to wish to turn it off, don't though! At least watch 30 minutes before deciding you do not like this movie. It was excellent. It is on a line of thought similar to that of memento and other movies of that nature. Jim Carey does an excellent job with a serious role, he's is not to be underestimated.
