The Visionary First Film from George Lucas, Now inia Director's Cut
A chilling exploration of the future is also a compelling examination of the present in George Lucas' THX 1138, starring Robert Duvall as a man whose mind and body are controlled by the government. THX makes an harrowing attempt to escape from a world where thoughts are controlled, freedom is an impossibility and love is the ultimate crime.

????? - 3.5 out of 5 (10/13/2004)
I have to say, that I have never seen this film and picked it up simply because George Lucas directed it. He hasn't failed yet, but with this one he did. This, without a doubt, one strange movie. I didn't understand it at all. Visually, it is very unique and different. If you are a fan of the movies George did, then you might want this one, if not...avoid at all costs. Let it be known that I am a huge Star Wars fan and liked all of Lucas's other film work.

I agree with Kevin - 4.75 out of 5 (9/17/2004)
This movie is one the old films I thought would be lost. I remember copying this on my old Beta deck because nobody would carry it, and then it was no longer made. I will put this DVD next to the other great clasics in my colection. (1984, The day the Earth Stood Still, F.451 and Failsafe) If you have the slightest hint of a conspiratorial imagination and have never veiwed the movie, buy it, you will not be sorry.

A Masterpiece Revisited - 4.75 out of 5 (9/15/2004)
THX-1138 is probably one of George Lucas' best films, and yet it is also probably one of his least known. While I disagree with what he is doing to the Star Wars Trilogy, it seems that the Director's Cut of THX is the way one should be done. Many of the additions to the original Star Wars Trilogy were mere window dressings, and didn't really add to the impact of the story. With THX, the improvements and additions really enhance the story by making a better impact visually. The extras on thes
