Fresh After 30 Years
"...it did for meat-eating what Hitchcock did for shower taking."
-Marilyn Beck
From Hollywood
This is the bizarre and tragically gruesome account of what happened to five young friends one summer afternoon in rural Texas. After hearing reports of grave robbing, the group sets out to check on a family grave. Soon after, one-by-one they wander into the murderous clutches of Leatherface (Gunnar Hansen).
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a frightening classic that possesses an undying power to terrorize audiences again and again. It's ability to truly horrify is so strong that when the movie first opened, some people actually walked out in a state of shock.

The original and still unsuppased master of the genre - 3.5 out of 5 (1/6/2004)
For the most part the film genre of the horror story has fallen far away from its roots. There was a time when the story was the thing not how much blood and internal organs could be displayed. The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre has the wonderful simplicity of a story told while sitting around a campfire, it is mood and circumstances not blood and gore that makes this take the classic piece of American horror that it is. While often imitated this film has never been duplicated. Has with a good

a true classic - 4 out of 5 (10/20/2003)
Everything I needed to learn for life, I learned from the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE.
I learned that you don't travel back roads without a full tank of gas in your vehicle. I also learned that you don't visit old farmhouses unless suitably armed, and finally I learned that you should never pick up hitchhikers, especially ones with poor dental hygiene or ones wearing masks made of human skin.
But seriously, by this time, I doubt there is a horror fan left in the world that has not seen or he

JUNK.... JUST....JUNK! - 2 out of 5 (4/20/2004)
This is the worst horror movie ever to be created. I don't understand how you can be afraid of this. You want terror, watch the remake with Jessica Biel.....that's scary!

I loved it so much! - 5 out of 5 (12/8/2003)
I saw this a couple years ago. I hated it. Now that I saw it again, it is a masterpiece. I cannot wait to see the remake. I also hope they remake the second one, because that one is just as good as this one.

Classic - 4.5 out of 5 (10/23/2003)
When telling people that one of my favorite films of all time is the "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," I almost always get a few raised eyebrows. It's amazing how just the mere mention of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" can send peoples' imaginations into a flurry of disdain and utter disgust.
1974 was the year the film came out. It was immediately barraged by either critics calling it "depraved" or "the most horrifying motion picture" they've "ever seen." Little did director Tobe Hooper know
