Special Collector's Edition
Sergio Leone's original uncut masterpiece is a monumental epic. The picture itself is as big as its Monument Valley locations. As grand as it's fine distinguished cast, and as tough and bawdy as everybody imagines the old west. Henry Fonda plays the blackest character of his long career, and he's utterly convincing as Frank, the ruthless, murderous psychopath who suffers no conscience pangs after annihilating an entire family. Jason Robards is the half-breed falsely accused of the terrible slaughter. Charles Bronson plays The Man, who remembers how his brother was savagely tortured. Brilliantly directed be Leone, this glorious picture re-established the Western's significance to cinema art.

Once Upon a Time in the West - An operatic masterpiece - 4.5 out of 5 (11/17/2004)
This film is one of two Sergio Leone masterpieces. The other is much better known - The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Once Upon a Time... as seen here, at full length,is just as good. The story is on a grand scale, with the coming of the railroad to the West (and all that entails) as its centerpiece. There are several great performances, but Henry Fonda as the cold as ice villain,Charles Bronson as the laconic hero?, and Jason Robards as the bad but good gang leader will be remembered long after

Disappointment - 4.25 out of 5 (12/19/2003)
One of the best movies in that genre. A must have with a big disappointment. Some years ago, Pro7 broadcast a slightly longer version on television. It included about 9 minutes of additional footage included in the picture. On the new DVD release, sadly, still missing. Now I don't think, it'll be a complete version available.

The "BEST OF THE BEST" in Western Genre - 3.75 out of 5 (11/26/2003)
What a cast ! What a story ! Henry Fonda's classic line to Wobbles "Never trust a man who wears both a belt and suspenders. He can't even trust his own pants". Charles Bronson is as cool as ever and is as bad (or as good) as they come. Jason Robrds as Cheyenne - superb. And what's not to like about Claudia Cardinale?
Sergio did a lot of spaghetti westerns with Clint and others but this has to be his masterpiece. Great scenery, great story and a spectacular ensamble cast. You learn to h
