Synopsis
"A single busrt of breathtaking inspiration!" -The New York Times

Michael Douglas stars as a choreographer who subjects 16 dancers to a grueling audition in this Academy Award-nominated adaptation of the landmark Broadway musical. Featuring Marvin Hamlisch's Oscar-nominated music and Jeffrey Hornaday's (Flashdance) sizzling choreography, this thrilling portrayal of life behind the velvet curtains is truly "One Singular Sensation"!

After narrowing down hundreds of Broadway hopefuls, Zach (Douglas) leads a select group of dancers on the tryout of their lives. In an audition twist, Zach asks each performer personal and intimate questions-with results that powerfully affect not only the young performers but the hardened stage veteran as well.

Young hopefuls try out for Broadway - 4.25 out of 5  (4/30/2003)
Long before there was Simon on American Idol there was Zach (Michael Douglas), a man sitting alone in the dark, mid-way back in an empty theater deciding the fate of young hopefuls. As he sits there, only the glow of his cigarette visible, he does not provide constructive criticism, there is no time for that, he shoots down the unfit with a phrase sharper and more deadly than any sword. This film centers not on the inherent acerbic nature of the director but rather the hopes and dreams on the li   more >>

OK movie, Pleasant DVD - 3.5 out of 5  (4/22/2003)
A Chorus Line worked well as a broadway musical. It fares pretty well as a movie. My only complaints are the changes made from the transition of the show to the movie. The removal of some songs and the addition of new ones are questionable. This movie will appeal to those who are into theatre as well as those who are into character dramas. Those who aren't may find themselves bored with it. Aside from the negative, the movie does have some nice chorepgraphy, and it is well cast. Thanks to   more >>
