It's Happening.
From M. Night Shyamalan, the writer/director of The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, comes the story of the Hess family in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. One morning they wake up to find a 500- foot crop circle in their backyard.
Graham Hess (Mel Gibson) and his family are told extraterrestrials are responsible for the sign in their field. They watch the news as crop circles are soon found all over the world.
Signs is an emotional story of one farm as they encounter the possibility the world is being invaded.
"It's easy for a filmmaker to blow up the world - but what Shyamalan does is much riskier. He tries to blow our minds. I was engaged by every inch of Signs." -Richard Roeper, Ebert & Roeper

A second opinion! - 4.25 out of 5 (5/22/2003)
I have to confess right off the bat that I didn't really care too much for
SIGNS when I first saw it in the theater.
I couldn't explain it that night to the group of people I was with, but now
I finally figured it whilst watching the DVD.
But the thing is that it really doesn't matter what I think because SIGNS
as a thriller is a very effective one. It also is a pretty damn nice disc
and Disney made it their latest Vista series (although they did annoy me
with the packaging, bu

A widower tries to hold his family together during the strangest of times - 4.5 out of 5 (1/7/2003)
The growing trend in film making today is the louder the better. Far too many films are centered on the technical wonders that computers bring to special effects. While I have to admit that I can enjoy some films in this classification what really grabs me as a viewer is the synergy between the script, direction and acting. M. Night Shyamalan has brought to the screen such a film of merit, a film actually worth being made and watching, 'Signs'. The story concerns a former Episcopalian priest Gr

Could've been an excelent DVD - 3.75 out of 5 (5/30/2003)
Vista Series has some of the best DVD's around. All are in dts, all THX mastered, all with special packaging. Out of all three of those things, Signs only has one and that's the THX mastering. The picture itself isn't so great. The audio is still excelent though (it's in Dolby EX even though it doesn't say so on the box). The layer change gets me. I don't know who decided where to put the layer change, but they need to get fired. It's right in the middle of a scene where there's score and

One of the scariest movies ever! - 4.75 out of 5 (3/16/2003)
This movie rocks. Scary, great script, excellent special effects, and of course Mel Gibson + Night = the scariest movie ever!
Watch this with other great movies: "The Ring", "The Exorcist", "Ringu" and "Sixth Sense".

It opened up my eyes, I saw : The Sign - 3.75 out of 5 (1/28/2003)
M. Night does it again! Although his second attempt at the big screen with "Unbreakable' was a major disappointment for me, he more than makes up for it with Signs. A well thought and directed film M. Night has the gift of bringing great performances not only from adult actors but from children as well.
I particularly like Joaquin Phoenix as Mel Gibson's younger brother who provides comic relief at the right moments. i do think that Mr. Night should stay behind the camera instead of acting
