They Come In Peace - To Enslave Humankind!
Fifty spaceships, each three miles across, hover ominously above Earth's major cities. The Visitors that emerge are humanlike in appearance and extend the hand of friendship. Our planet's resources are just what these aliens need to survive. And for its future survival, unsuspecting humankind will need... a miracle!
Kenneth Johnson's science-fiction spectacular V mixes dynamic special effects with cliffhanger thrills. As fascist rule enslaves the globe, freedom fighters battle to save our species. Marc Singer (The Beastmaster) head an epic-sized cast of human defenders and - behind sleek uniforms and benevolent behavior - reptilian invaders. For unparalleled extraterrestrial excitement, the invaders of V are unstoppable.

"V" For Victory...Go, Tell Your Friends! - 3.5 out of 5 (7/2/2001)
Imagine waking up one morning, turning on the news and finding out that 50 spaceships, each three miles long, had suddenly taken position over the 50 major cities in the world. No, it isn't the opening of the movie Independence Day, it's V: The Original Mini-Series, the 1983 made for television drama from which Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich pretty much stole the first half hour of their blockbuster film from (for heaven's sake...the spaceships even look the same!).

Not true wide screen format. MATTED, says so right on the box. - 3.25 out of 5 (6/28/2002)
I won't argue about whether or not the miniseries was shot in wide screen as well as standard, it may very well have been. However this dvd doesn't use widescreen footage. It uses the standard screen footage like was aired on tv. They simple masked off (matted) the top and bottom of the screen to make the film appear to be wide screen. The other customer who pointed this out was correct, by comparing the non widescreen tape to the dvd it is very obvious.

V- Cool - 3.5 out of 5 (5/14/2002)
This is a nice surprise. Kenneth Johnson's commentary is a very special treat for fans of this original film, which launched the 'quickly deteriorating in quality show.' The model work is especially good for it's time, and especially for TV budgetary restrictions, and I believe we have the Great Gregg Jein (Close Encounters, 1941, STTMP, etc., etc.) to thank for that.
