A DARK CITY OF DREAMS - 5 out of 5 (5/24/2001)
John Murdock, (Rufus Sewell - Bless the Child) wakes up in a hotel room with his brain scrambled. He doesn't know who he is but finds himself wanted for a series of BRUTAL killings in a very bleak metropolis area. He receives an urgent phone call from Dr. Daniel Paul Schreber, (Keifer Sutherland - Flatliners, The Lost Boys) he warns Murdock to get out of the hotel because someone is coming for him. One of the Best Sci-Fi mood movies ever made! - 4.5 out of 5 (3/1/2004)
In keeping with Roger Ebert's praise over this lavish sci-fi masterpiece (yes, I would call it that)this film is not to be missed. Director Alex Proyas has created a fantastic world of years gone by and the future not seen. Not since BladeRunner has a Sci-Fi movie been made this well.
The only movie I saw twice in the same day in the theater! Buy it now!!

An excellent movie that was lost during the Matrix release - 4.25 out of 5 (3/19/2001)
Definately worth seeing if you are a fan of the "What is reality" genre of film. Dark and forboding with great effects and sets this movie never recieved the attention it deserved. The DVD seems to have one thing that the release I saw did not, and that is the introductory comments whic I felt detracted from the movie by telling you what was going on immediately. Other than this It was an excellent film worthy of purchase.

Lots of people have been raining down the superlatives praising this movie. Generally, I agree with them, but I want to categorize this a little differently than most other reviews.
This is essentially a cult/noir/Gothic architectural movie that just happens to have some sci-fi trappings.
For all of director Alex Proyas' commentary on how this film IS and IS NOT sci-fi and fantasy, it's actually more of a melange of feelings.
I howled when he insisted that the film isn't a comic bo
