Atlantic swells form 100-foot walls. Wind shrieks at a maxed-out Force 12. In October 1991 three raging weather fronts -- one of them Hurricane Grace -- combine to form the greatest storm in recorded history.
George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg lead a talented cast in this harrowing special-effects adventure that intercuts the plight of seafarers struggling to reach safe harbor with the heroics of air/sea rescue crews. Directed by Wolfgang Petersen, The Perfect Storm tosses excitement your way in waves.

A must have! - 4.5 out of 5 (5/23/2003)
You may have already seen this movie in the theaters considering it was 3rd highest grossing film of 2000. Or you might consider viewing it for the first time. If you are the latter, then be warned that you can not just view this movie-you become a part of it. I was lucky enough to be part of the former and witness it on the big screen. Let me tell you, I wondered if I would be able to relive the experience. I feel that the work put into the DVD version allows me to.

I don't really understand why I've seen this ten times, at least. I guess there are some movies you grab hold of, and can always watch. This is one of them. Sure the script is a little thin on character development, and special effects seem to be the focus, but this is a well made film about men on the sea. I think that's what I like most, I put myself in their place. Obviously I wouldn't want to actually be in their place but the camraderie and the struggles they endure made an impact. No one r

Not Quite Perfect Storm - 3.75 out of 5 (4/25/2001)
This is quite a well made film, and much better than Wolfgang Petersen's Air Force One (which was just nationalistic pulp). Being based around an actual real-life event lends this film a little more weight, though much is fictionalised. Clooney delivers a good performance I think, proving that he can play tainted character-types and not just the wooden good guys Harrison Ford plays of late. The effects are fantastic, and and the sound does them justice. Mark Wahlberg is also a likable type,
