"Dazzling! Wildly Seductive And Erotic!" -Rolling Stone
From celebrated French director Luc Besson, this high-energy, inventive, mesmerizing film is "slick, stylish and tremendously entertaining" (The New York Times)! A riveting, rapid-paced and action packed tale that follows a cop-killer junkie turned glamorous assassin, La Femme Nikita is "a razor sharp thriller for both the mind and the eyes" (Boxoffice).
Wildly violent, borderline psychopathic Nikita (Anne Parillaud) is a street punk who'll do anything for a fix - even murder a cop at point blank. But Nikita is given a second chance...at killing! Confined to a clandestine government training center for assassins, Nikita is transformed into a calculating bombshell with a license to kill! But when the reinvented operative is finally unleashed onto the real world, her hardened exterior is penetrated by a man with whom she falls deeply in love. Now Nikita must choose between the deceitful, complicated maneuverings of her dual identity - or the life-threatening mission that will shape her destiny forever!

Hot Action Cool Movie - 2.5 out of 5 (4/26/2001)
When a street punk tries to rip off a drug store and accidentally kills a cop there is only one thing left to do...recruit her to be a top level secret operative for the government. At least that's the idea in Luc Besson's classic action thriller La Femme Nikita. The film focuses on Nikita (Annie Parillaud) a young drug addict who, after killing a cop, is given the choice between death or entering a training program that will put her on the fast track to become a government assassin. The film fo

MGM's Subtitle Manipulation - 3.25 out of 5 (12/17/2001)
La Femme Nikita was the first foreign film that I went to - willingly. I was not disappointed. This French film directed by Luc Besson was the best action film that I had seen in a long time. It has great acting, an intense plot, and great dialogue.
However, on the DVD you wouldn't know this because MGM 'MADE UP THEIR OWN' subtitles. No kidding. The subtitles do not match the French spoken in the movie, and if you've ever rented/owned the subtitled VHS, you know that these subtitles are

Good movie, but a bit slack in the English treatment - 3.25 out of 5 (12/12/2000)
"La Femme Nikita" is a cool movie. Not in the sense that I like it and "cool" is the only adjective I can think to use, but that it's exciting but detached.
A short plot rundown: Nikita (Anne Parillaud) is a junkie who kills a cop during a shootout. After she's sentenced to life in jail, the government fakes her death and then spends three years training her to be an assassin for them. Mayhem ensues.
It's a damn fine movie. Luc Besson was obviously inspired by American action movies,
