Customer Review Cold War Thriller - 4.25 out of 5  (1/25/2001) A U.S. Platoon is captured in Korea and subjected to brainwashing making them the perfect instruments of destruction. Frank Sinatra gives a heroic performance supported by a fine cast. Lots of twists and turns until the dramatic conclusion. Gratuitous satire of the McCarthy era. But was McCarthy RIGHT??? This film is many things: a work a art, a chilling and irresistible story, and a piece of American political history. The prefiguration of the Kennedy assassinations is eerie. Really saying anything about the plot of this movie will spoil it. The picture is superb... gorgeous black and white, full of definition.
