Mistake on the lake! - 2.75 out of 5 (2/3/2000)
The box cover bills "Lake Placid" as this years "Anaconda." I might not go that far however I will go as far as to compare it to "Tremors." The movie is an okay comedy but not a real..great horror film. If you want my opinion, I think it has alot to do with the Director. Steve Minor cut his teeth on Friday the 13th flicks and he has a bad habit of telegraphing the scares. A habit which he still hasn't broken. This is a good film with a simple story and with interesting and somewhat funny,hilarious characters.They do their job good in this film.Gator lover Hector,cantankerous Mrs Bickermann,museum expert Kelly and Sheriff....
This movie is to both scare and laugh.3-D crocodile is worth seeing and scenes that he kills are not for children exactly.They are really wild.Scenery of Lake Placid is nothing but astounding.Great visual sights.
Video is widescreen and colors are life-like.

Limp in every sense: script, acting and direction.
David E. Kelley should've pulled in his writers from Ally McBeal if he was trying to make a comedy/horror flick. The characters are soooo annoying and have the dumbest character motivations, that you wish Croc would kill them all in the first 15 minutes. And I'm no prude, but Betty White is supposed to be funny because she spits out four-letter epithets? At least the lake is pretty....
