Synopsis
During World War II, a group of G.I.'s are thrown together in the notorious German prison camp Stalag 17. For the most part, they spend their time scheming ways to help each other escape. But when two prisoners are killed in an escape attempt, it becomes obvious that there is a spy among them. William Holden was awarded an Oscar for his performance as a cynical, sharp-tongued soldier who spends his time scheming up rackets and trading with the Germans for special privileges.

One Of A Great Trio - 3.75 out of 5  (6/7/2001)
Stalag 17, along with The Great Escape and the Bridge on the River Kwai, is one of the 3 great POW movies ever made. It's a "must" for any WW2 DVD collection. The film revolves around a suspected traitor in a POW barracks - someone who's informing the Germans of all activities within the barracks, including escapes. Director Billy Wilder added to the tension and paranoia of his actors by not letting them read the script in advance - they were given it page by page so that even the performers   more >>

Hogan's Heros: The Movie - 4 out of 5  (6/2/2001)
This movie was the building ground for the great TV show "Hogan's Heros", which showed about the same amount of comedy as this movie does. I have to say, I love this movie as the narration has that old tyme click to it, with all kinds of old sayings from that time. The film overall drags you in because you feel as if you are in the bunker with these guys and thier little adventures. The whole film is spent trying to figure out who the "stooley" is in the bunker that keeps telling the Germans   more >>
