Customer Review The continnnnnnnnuing story of J.J. Gittes... - 3.75 out of 5  (11/29/1999) I'm not giving a synopsis since that would ruin the film. There is no reason to see The Two Jakes without seeing Chinatown first. If you do, you will be completely lost and it will make no sense. So. See Chinatown. Then see The Two Jakes. In that order. Make it a double feature night. That way you can try to keep everything straight in yout head and the characters are fresh. The DVD is better picture & sound wise than Chinatown. Although, that is to be expected as The Two Jakes is 16 year   more >>
