Synopsis
What'sia courtroom circus withoutia couple of clowns?

Charles Tuttle (Jeff Daniels, Dumb & Dumber, Pleasantville) is a mild-mannered, big-city attorney, sent to a small desert town a few days before his wedding to defend a cry-baby con artist (Rip Torn, Men in Black). He arrives to find his high-strung best friend, Richard (Michael Richards, Seinfeld), an out-of-work-actor, brewing up a bachelor party blast that soon turns Charles' brilliant legal mind into jello. Trying to do the groom-to-be a favor, Richard pretends he's Charles and goes to trial, giving the performance of his career while turning the courtroom upside down. Meanwhile, Charles finds romance in the arms of a beautiful waitress (Charlize Theron, Devil's Advocate, The Astronaut's Wife), who proves to him that there is no law against falling in love.

Empire Review
Back to Vinny Town - 3.75 out of 5  (5/27/2002)
TRIAL & ERROR takes an old comedy formula and mixes it up with a new batch of fresh faces. The film was to be the first major new starring vehicle for Michael Richards who was coming off the high note which was his best season of "Seinfeld." The idea I suppose was to team him up with a veteran comedy actor in Jeff Daniels, sit back and see what happens. And the movie is surprisingly good. The basic plot has Jeff Daniels playing Charlie Tuttle; a stressed-out lawyer who has just made par   more >>
