Customer Review Two Strong Acting Talents collide in 'Instinct'...... - 4 out of 5  (1/12/2000) When "Instinct" arrived in theaters last summer, it was recieved with mostly negative reviews and not too big of an audience. Most critics called it sort of an uninspired hybrid of "Silence of the Lambs" and "Gorillas in the Mist". Aware of that, I decided to take a chance with it. I had just watched "Jerry Maguire" a few days before, and I was ready for another good performance from Cuba Gooding, Jr. What I got was a suprisingly good film that works for the strength of the two leads.
