Let Lola Run Straight Into Your Heart - 4.5 out of 5 (2/13/2003)
I real life we don't have a "do over" option. We can't look back on things and fix the little boo-boo's we made along the way to iron out the wrinkles of our present day lives. What if we could though? What if we did have a button that would allow us to change things in the past to have a different present? This isn't exactly what Tom Tykwer is getting at with his film Run Lola Run, but instead the parallel existence that runs right along side ours. What if this happened instead of this?

Run Lola Run is a film that is like no other I have ever seen. The story is about a german woman, Lola, who has to come up with 100,000 dollars in 20 minutes to save her boyfriend from his drug dealing boss.
The movie runs 80 minutes long, but how? The entire movie is about these 20 minutes Lola has to come up with 100,000 dollars. You will be surprised, and you'll love it. The movie starts off very fast as you have minutes to see the storyline and the action begins.

Tykwer is entering Tarantino-status as a filmmaker in regards to Hollywood: people are taking big notice, and naturally this film is the reason why. The commentary (nice to see on a foreign film) is great and the presentation is slick overall. Not for everyone, but that's kind of the point of the thing.
