They Live, DVD Sleeps - 3.5 out of 5 (2/13/1999)
"They Live" is a great movie; my favorite John Carpenter movie and definately up there with my top 10 favorite films of all time. This film pulls off action, comedy, and serious plot undertones the way only John Carpenter can. The main character in this film, Nada, is definately one of Carpenter's biggest "bad ass" characters; especially when he straps on a shot-gun and goes hunting zombies in down town L.A.
As for the DVD; the video and audio are pretty good, seeing how this is an early DVD

cool film,with a great transfer at 2.35:1,the colors
are solid and the picture is sharp.the sound is nice also.
i gave the features a 5 becuase it's the first time
the film has been released widescreen in the U.S.

Excellent DVD film but with no extras - 3.5 out of 5 (6/25/1998)
My favourite John Carpenter movie does not disappoint on DVD with a crisp anamorphic transfer providing the best quality in whihc I have ever seen this film (never having seen it at a cinema). The audio, even through my Pro-Logic amp is excellent with a superb stereo and 3D image. The audio backdrops for the street scenes are excellent examples of surround sound and the clarity of the DVD audio is unsurpassed.
