THE FLY IS BACK (a little bit rusty but still alive) - 3.5 out of 5 (8/27/1999)
Director Shinya Tsukamoto's TETSUO is the cult movie by excellence. Preceded by a hellish reputation, invisible in most countries and presented only to a few happy ones in one or two festivals, TETSUO is now in the Image DVD catalog. And, if you dare to, it's worth multiple viewings.
Shot in black and white, this movie is not the kind of horror movie we are accustomed to nowadays. If you can stand the first five minutes of the movie, you won't be able to quit the room during 67 minutes ! The

It can be said that TETSUO: THE IRON MAN is one of the greatest examples of Japanese cinema available in the United States. It can also be said that
TETSUO is also one of the greatest examples of Independant films in the United States. Well, they're both correct. TETSUO is like a regular cult or
independant film, but it also has somehting better than the average Independant film: a technical know how that compliments the story.
