"A High-Flying Comedy" - ABC-TV
In the tradition of Grosse Point Blank comes an unconventional comedy about two air traffic controllers whose intense rivalry and penchant for one-upmanship causes hilarious havoc with their careers, their marriages - and the planes in their airspace.
Nick Falzone (John Cusack) is the busiest, and the best, air traffic controller on Long Island - until Russell Bell (Billy Bob Thornton) roars into town like a motorcycle - riding cowboy. Fueled by caffeine and machismo, the two men embark upon an uproarious contest of wit and wills that can ultimately only have one winner. Co - starring Cate Blanchett and Angelina Jolie, Pushing Tin is "one of a kind...a high-flying, free spirited, wildly funny blast of originality." (CBS-TV)

Pushing Billy Bob! - 4 out of 5 (12/18/2000)
The papers seem to have quelled a bit about the relationship between Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie these days. Angelina is off preparing for her next film, the big screen adaptation of "Tomb Raider" and Thornton is off doing god knows what.
But since I like to stir things up, I decided it was time to go back and watch a little film called "Pushing Tin" which went down in history as a film with a stellar cast that went down faster than a crashing plane.

A SMART COMEDY - 3.75 out of 5 (2/26/2000)
Last movie to date of british director Mike Newell, PUSHING TIN with John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton hasn't had much success at the box office last summer. Why - Cusack and Thornton are both excellent actors, Newell directed two great hits in the recent years, FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL and DONNIE BRASCO with Al Pacino, and the comedy genre is generally appreciated by international audiences.
So, it's a weak screenplay. NO ! In my opinion, PUSHING TIN's screenplay is one of the smartest o

"Pushing Tin" is comedy that takes place in a world that has never been covered in movies before. That is the business of air traffic controllers. John Cusack plays Nick Falzone, the best traffic controllor on the ground. He truly is a master at his job, but he runs into some competition in the form of Russell Bell (Billy Bob Thorton). Bell is transfered to the same airport where Falzone works at, and it immediately sparks some intense rivalry. Falzone is married to Connie (Cate Blanchett), and
