Music Never Felt This Good.
Gary Busey gives an electrifying, Oscar®-nominated performance (Best Actor-1978) as Buddy Holly - the musical genius from Lubbock, Texas, who changed the tune of rock 'n' roll history. With a groundbreaking combination of country music and rhythm & blues, Buddy Holly and the Crickets (Don Stroud, Charles Martin Smith) catapulted to national stardom in just three short years with such hits as "That'll Be The Day," "It's So Easy," and "Peggy Sue." By the age of 22, Holly had it all: chart-topping singles, a beautiful wife, and international acclaim - until tragedy ended a brilliant career...but not his music. In an Academy Award-winning score adaptation, Busey sings Holly's greatest hits in this dynamic tribute to one of the most influential rock 'n' rollers of all time and the legacy he left behind.

"WELL ALL RIGHT!" Buddy Holly, "RAVE ON!" - 4 out of 5 (5/17/2001)
For 114 minutes, you are taken back to the 1950's, as you harmoniously hear and feel the legacy of one of the first major rock and roll performers, Charles Hardin Holly living on in this 1978 release of THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY. Gary Busy (Predator 2, Soldier) portrayed the revered and energetic 22-year-old man behind the black horn-framed "wonder" glasses from Lubbock, Texas, with his electric guitar and his chart topping singles "THAT'LL BE THE DAY," "IT'S SO EASY," and "PEGGY SUE."

Best Biopic EVER! - 4.25 out of 5 (9/20/1999)
Quite simply, The Buddy Holly Story is the best damn movie biography ever made. The reason for that is the casting of a real musician and singer in the role of Buddy Holly- Gary Busey. The authenticity that it brings is almost as good as having the real thing. Not only the lead though, the Crickets are played by real actors/musicians as well. Since I play drums and dabble in guitar, I always look for inconsistencies and fakery in these types of films. There isn't any here because they are really
