It'sia nice placeito visit, but you wouldn't wantito die there!
A blade-wielding psychopath is on the loose, turning the Big Apple bright red with the blood of beautiful young women. As NYPD detectives follow the trail of butchery from the decks of the Staten Island Ferry to the sex shows of Times Square, each brutal murder becomes a sadistic taunt. In the city that never sleeps, he's the killer that can't be stopped!
Written and directed by acclaimed horror maestro Lucio Fulci (Zombie), and available for the first time uncut and uncensored, "The New York Ripper" is one of Fulci's most savage and controversial thrillers.

Even the best have an off day! - 2.5 out of 5 (7/27/2000)
Regular readers of these reviews might have noticed that this reviewer is something of a horror film fan. Those same readers might also share the same likes. Thirdly, they might want to have their heads examined also!
As a horror buff, I have always sung the praises of such Italian classic directors such as Dario Argento, Mario Bava and Lucio Fulci.
Fulci, it can be said is my personal favorite, but even as it is, he too, can have an off day. So long story short (too late) I would like

The ripper is back... - 4.25 out of 5 (8/20/2001)
Before buying this DVD I had never seen this film, here in the UK it was escorted from the country by Police at the request of the BBFC. So you can imagine when I heard it was available to buy on DVD, I spent my cash without question. The disc arrived and was played immediately, and to my surprise it was not the sleaze fest I had come to expect, but a neat little thriller with some nice twists and turns. Of all the Fulci films I have seen this has to be his most polished work. Nice anamorphic tr

A classic of extreme cinema - 3.5 out of 5 (2/22/2001)
I loved this. OK, it had its faults (the dubbing, the "duck " voice and the slightly dull investigation scenes.), but in terms of mixing sex and violence, this film is second to none. All the killings are stylishly done and very sadistic. The gore effects are superb. The picture quality on the DVD was mostly fine with an anamorphic transfer. The extras were OK (the trailer and a Fulci bio). Recommended to Fulci fans and for people bored with the safe slasher films of today.

Dark, explicit, depressing & sadistic. - 3.25 out of 5 (5/27/2000)
This is not a film for 95% of the population. It has some horrific killings in it some of which still looked realistic even when run through frame by frame. There's also lots of sexual stuff in this, I was quite surprised by how much. This is the first Fulci film I've seen and I think I want to see more. No matter what other people say the duck voice isn't for laughs, I laughed at it in the trailer but when you are in the film it's a good plot point because it hides the killers identity it cou
