not even close to "the messenger" - 2.5 out of 5 (1/24/2002)
feels like it's made for television - lot's of costumes and extras - cliche driven story - cheap, sticky-sweet soundtrack, the drummerboy for the poor - missing everything "the messenger" has: showing the passion of jean, the mystery behind the revelations, the voices, the victory, the defeat, the inevitable. this is yet another anemic history lesson, at best yet another inexplicable glorification. nothing that really makes you think, hope, fear, commiserate, sympathize, cry. "the messenger" lef

Not Great, but a fair movie - 3.25 out of 5 (5/20/2000)
Having seen the film version first aka the messenger, then went out & bought this to see how different they had portrayed Joan of arc, maybe i was a little disappointed. Great Movie - Better on all aspects when compared to The Messenger. - 4.5 out of 5 (4/23/2000)
Having seen both films, Joan of Arc wins on all fronts: Acting, Soundtrack, and special effects. The characters are much more fully developed than
in The Messenger. Even cinematography is every bit as good as that of the messenger. A worthwhile addition to any DVD collection.
