The Man Who Made A Monster
Boris Karloff stars as the screen's most memorable monster in what many consider to be the greatest horror film ever made. Dr. Frankenstein (Colin Clive) dares to tamper with the life and death by creating a human monster (Karloff) out of lifeless body parts. It's director James Whales' adaption of the Mary Shelley novel blended with Karloff's compassionate portrayal of a creature groping for identity that makes FRANKENSTEIN a masterpiece not only of genre, but for all time.

one of the greatest horror movies of all time !!! - 4.75 out of 5 (8/5/2003)
frankenstein may be an outdated story, but...still a great story. no matter how old the story is or how old this movie is...great movie. you have all the elements of a great horror classic- a monster, a mad scientist, a thunder storm, and my personal favorite thing about this movie is...the laboratory. you have to have a great laboratory to create a monster ! great horror movie !!!

Simply put you gotta love Universal!!! - 4.75 out of 5 (8/25/1999)
Universal really pulled out all the stops for this DVD.The video is stunning considering this is a seventy year old film. This DVD has great audio too with much less noise than other recent old flick releases such as The Old Dark House. The bonus materials are informative and as entertaining as the movie itself.Verdict:Buy this DVD now!

As the Classic 1931 version of Frankentein is finally out on DVD I am pleased to say It looks great. We all know about the film so theres no point in reviewing the plot. For a film pushing 70 years old it cant get too much better in terms of Video quality. I thought it looked great considering it age and it's cleaned up restoration.
Its audio on the other hand Has alot to be desired but again its a Mono 70 yr old sound trak from a record. I had to turn the volume way up to hear it..but i wasnt t
