The mob isitough... but it's nothing like show business.
Loanshark Chili Palmer (Travolta) has done his time as a gangster. So when "business" takes him to Los Angeles to collect a debt from down-and-out filmmaker Harry Zimm (Gene Hackman), Chili talks tough and then pitches Harry a script idea. Immediately, Chili is swept into the Hollywood scene: he schmoozes film star Martin Weir (DeVito), romances "B" movie queen Karen Flores (Rene Russo) and even gets reservations at the hottest restaurants in town. In fact, all would be smooth for this cool new producer, if it weren't for the drug smugglers and an angry mobster who won't leave him alone. But hey, this is Hollywood and no one said it would be easy!

This is a fucking very good movie! - 4.5 out of 5 (2/26/2000)
After first time watching GET SHORTY, for me, it was more as clear, that the things in this movie are more as just cool stuff!
The cool Chili Palmer, the fucking mob guy Ray "Bones" Barboni, the BIG B-Movie Producer Harry Zimm, the small and truly not big actor Martin Weir and the other very good cast in this movie (RENE RUSSO as B-Movie Queen Karen Flores, JAMES GANDOLFINI as the "are you any good?" Movie-Stuntman Bear!) are just a small piece of the thousands of highlights in this movie!

"Hey, Look at me......." - 4.5 out of 5 (2/7/2000)
"Get Shorty" was a definate sign that John Travolta was back in the spotlight. It was his first film since his "Pulp Fiction" comeback, and he delivered yet another terrific performance, although it got overlooked at that year's oscars. "Get Shorty" was also one of 1995's best films. It was extremely fresh, both in style and in substance, and laced with great performances from an ensemble cast.
Travolta plays Chili Palmer, a Miami loanshark, who is now an employee of Ray Bones, played by Denn

A Cast from Heaven, and a story from Leonard! - 4 out of 5 (1/30/2000)
Finally, an adaptation of an Elmore Leonard book
that captures his genius of dialogue. There isn't
a bad performance in this movie from Travolta all
down to Gandolfini and Lindo. Could a person be
any cooler than Travolta plays Chili Palmer? NO!
This funny movie takes you on a trip to Hollywood
through a gangster's eyes. This is a film that can
be watched over and over again. A good thing about
this DVD is that if you're like me with a Projection
TV at home and a smaller one at sc
