Gilberte (Sabine Azema) is happily married to Georges (Pierre Ardit), a wealthy businessman who is unaware of his wife's previous marriage. One day Gilberte's unmarried sister, Arlette (Isabelle Nanty), knows the truth. Then one day, Georges comes home and announces he's about to strike a deal with a fabulously wealthy American named Eric Thompson (Lambert Wilson), who's on his way to Paris, and just happens to be Gilberte's ex-husband. Further complicating matters are family friend Huguette (Audrey Tautou), who has a crush on Charley (Jalil Lespert), who has been pursuing Gilberte...resulting in a series of misunderstandings and farcical situations.
Award-winning filmmaker Alain Resnais (Last Year at Marienbad) once again strikes gold with this delightful new period musical comedy based on a 1925 Parisian Operetta.
