Based On True Events
In search of much needed relaxation, Susan and Daniel take a tropical island vacation. While scuba diving miles off the coast, the tour guide miscounts leaving them abandoned in the middle of the ocean. As the hours pass, the couple realizes they are not alone as a shark's fin breaks the surface water. Over the next 24 hours, the couple must fight to stay afloat and alive, surrounded by miles of ocean.

A couple are stranded alone in the middle of shark invested water - 4.75 out of 5 (12/20/2004)
There are basically two types of horror found in films. First there is the unbelievable, homicidal creatures that cannot be killed - situations far beyond the possibilities of nature. Then there is the more subtle form; terror that comes from the dark fact that it could actually happen. Open Water is one of the best films ever to fall into the later category. The dread you feel is not from a Freddy or a Jason - it comes from a stupid human mistake that strands two people alone in open, sh

Don't Waste Your Time... - 2.5 out of 5 (1/31/2005)
The next "great shark film" ... what a joke. There was nothing scary about this film at all. Just a couple floating the the water for two hours. I am not a movie expert, but I like to watch DVDs and own over 650. I only have a few that I think were just not worth the money...this is one of them.

This is the only shark movie to ever rival Jaws. And it wins! - 4.75 out of 5 (1/17/2005)
Perfect! There is no way possible to ever top this one for a shark movie. The use of real sharks and the effects and filming style set this one apart from all others. It makes you feel as if you are actually there, and has the ability to make you very uncomfortable and nervous. You will feel what these two poor souls are forced to endure in what is their nightmare! Thanks to all that are responsible for the release of this masterpiece of cinema!

Wow! - 4.75 out of 5 (1/3/2005)
I knew from the reviews that this would be a good film. I had no idea it would be a great film. I was one of the few people to swim in the Atlantic after dark following a viewing of Jaws. Yes, that was an intense and very scary film. I have participated in dives a number of times - however, I may never dive again after seeing this film. It is intense and is as good as its reviews. Buy it - you will need several viewings, as most people will cover their eyes during a few scenes! Not real
