A fantastic sequel! - 5 out of 5 (12/2/2004)
Roger Ebert calls SPIDER-MAN 2 "the best superhero movie I have ever seen"
That is high praise indeed and I'd have to say I agree with it.
But when you look at all the facts in the puzzle, it's easy to see why. All of the pieces fit. First and foremost, Sony went with a Director familiar with the subject. Sam Raimi was a comic book fan from way back when and thus they avoided the mistake of going with a Director who knew nothing about the subject.

Spidey fights Doc Ock and his own regrets - 4.75 out of 5 (12/2/2004)
In those years before I hit my teens I collected comic books, a typical hobby for that age group and gender. Discounting the 'girl' comics like Archie and the like there were two major forces in comic lore then, DC and Marvel. While DC had the heavy hitters like Superman, Batman, the Flash and The Green Lantern, Marvel had something completely different, super heroes with very human faults.
