Not so Riddick-u-less - 4 out of 5 (11/17/2004)
A better man than man might try to take the high ground with THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK.
Yes, a better man than me might not start out with a lead such as "the film is Riddick-U-Less."
But since we've already established what kind of man I am, let's talk about Richard P. Riddick and his role in THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK.
When we last saw Riddick, he was making his animated escape in the direct to DVD sequel DARK FURY, but that short film contained none of the charm that Vin Diesel bro

Riddick fights a death cult for the universe - 4.25 out of 5 (11/17/2004)
Sequels, although a main stay of the Hollywood studios, are a strange thing, they are made to exceed the original but rarely do. As such, when viewing a sequel it is often best to consider it on its own merits rather than constantly comparing to the first film. This was the mind set I had to adopt while watching the Chronicles of Riddick. The only similarities between Chronicles and the film that spawned it, Pitch Black, is a handful of characters. Those that have reviewed this film as Pitch Bla

Riddick Returns in Uncut Glory - 4.75 out of 5 (12/14/2004)
The uncut version is the version that should have played in the cinemas. It is much better, more true to the director's vision, dream sequences have been restored, fight scenes have been redone and a few other things.
It is a different film than Pitch Black, which is good, as it didn't follow the typical sequel route, which would have been going back to the planet, fighting the creatures, killing the queen of the creatures, etc.
Riddick is action/adventure/sci fi, and if the DVD sel

Great movie and DVD - 5 out of 5 (11/23/2004)
I saw it in the theatres and was looking forward to the DVD and I'm pleased to say it doesn't disappoint. Great audio and high quality video as you'd expect from a recent film making the transition to DVD. My only *minor* gripe, as a completist, is that this Director's Cut, while adding a lot of new footage, also removes some footage that some may remember from the theatrical cut. If you want to see that footage you're forced into buying this and one of the other regular editions (Widescreen

Directors Cut A+ - 5 out of 5 (11/17/2004)
Amazing is one way to describe this Directors cut which truley is a masterpiece. All the scenes put back into the film makes it a better experiance, this time you have a nice R-rated edition with plenty of violence and tons of sexual tension (can't hurt at all) added back in. Plus more back history on Riddick and more about the Necro's. The DVD is a nice one to say the least. I enjoyed the commentary track very much and the rest of the features are very nice as well.
