A classic monster movie homage and an action film rolled into one - 4.25 out of 5 (10/18/2004)
VAN HELSING is a movie that divides it's audience into two distinct camps. The first
viewed the movie as a typical summer movie while the second respected it's obvious homages to the classic Universal Monsters from the early era of film.
I'm not sure which of those camps I fall into. I do know that when I saw the film in the theaters, I thought it too loud, too fast and too confusing, but after viewing it again in a more relaxing home environment, I have to give Director Stephen Sommers cr

Horrible - 2.25 out of 5 (11/15/2004)
This was the worst movie I've seen this year and one of the worst I have ever seen. It's CGI based "filmography" was the weak foundation for this cheaply acted pseudo-horror flick. They should of cut about 35 minutes off of it instead of dragging us down this pointless script.

Worst Film of the Year - 2.25 out of 5 (10/26/2004)
This is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the worst film I've seen this year. Hideous accents, non-sensical plot elements, attrocious CGI effects... I could go on but I've only got 1000 words. The only good thing in this film is Kate Beckinsale's tight pants. I recommend you get this film just to see how bad it truly is.

Quite Good, Could Use A Stronger Script & Background Story - 4.25 out of 5 (10/26/2004)
The film is not that bad. I have to agree that the script wasn't "Fed enough lines". The non-stop action was slowed-down by lack of better dialog. It was like watching a 70's Kung Fu Flick without any Asian actors. Since I am a huge Hong Kong Cinema fan I was totally into the action. Terrific C.G.I. work. Dracula's Brides were gorgeous yet vicious. I also have to say Van Helsing's Mr. Hyde was far more enjoyable than the Mr. Hyde of 'The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Yes TLOEG's Mr. Hyde wa
