Customer Review Controversial but great! - 4 out of 5  (4/24/2006) Obviously with a film like this there is bound to be controversy. Before, during and after this film was released, a massive amount of controversy surrounded Mel Gibson and this film. Most of the opinions regarding this film were negative. If you were religious and found Jesus to be a real figure in religion, then you were most likely offended by this film. I thought this film was magnificent and truly powerful in terms of affecting its audience. It shows the enormity of the sacrifice he had to endure for your sins. It is touching and it definately made me closer and a greater love and devotion to Jesus Christ and his mother mary.
