The first Super-Hero... from New Jersey!
This is the story of Melvin, the resident geek at the local health club. One day, Slug and Bozo (some resident jocks) chase Melvin around the club and Melin ends up plunging out of the window into a tub of toxic waste. Melvin is transformed into The Toxic Avenger and he is a geek no more! Toxie fights crime and gets revenge on his enemies like a true hero.

Reviewing films is a lot like a wine tasting festival.
Every once in a while you need to cleanse the palate.
The wine tasters do it with a good slice of brie cheese.
Myself I have chosen a good cheesy movie.
I guess that's why I'm a beer drinker.
"The Toxic Avenger" is one of those historical films. The ones that are so bad, they are almost good.

If you've got the video... convert now! - 4.25 out of 5 (8/11/1998)
As said in other reviews, Troma packs their DVDs with so many goodies. Just check out this list of special features on this one. And if you get this DVD, the special features really come to life; you'd have to see it for yourself. It's worth it. The movie is a cult classic. See this movie if you wanna laugh. It's full of goofy special effects, bad acting, and lots of violence (some of it may be really offensive!). Enjoy!

THE TOXIC AVENGER is a rare gem when associated with cult films. It is many times given bad reviews by know-it-all film reviewers, but they are forgetting that it was NOT made for the intellectuals that review them, but for College and High School kids. And it was those very kids who made the film a GIANT success for Troma Studios.
