Ian McKellen delivers a riveting, award-winning performance as Hollywood horror director James Whale. It's 1957, and Whale's heyday as the director of Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein and The Invisible Man is long behind him. Retired and a semi-recluse, he lives his days accompanied only by images from his past. When his dour housekeeper, Hannah, hires a handsome young gardener, Clayton Boone, the flamboyant director and simple yard man develop an unlikely friendship. This powerful and poignant relationship will change their lives forever.

Great Movie - 4.5 out of 5 (7/24/1999)
This movie is about the life of a famouse director.
It concerns on his life. And then there is a gardener
who soon becomes a friend of his.
That relationship goes further to the very end.
I mostly enjoyed the flashbacks of Frankenstein
films. They were well fitted into the film.
Features are enourmous.
Video is sharp and clear.Recomended.
