The ultimate box set bar none - 5 out of 5 (12/8/2003)
For some time now Science-Fiction has broken away from a self contained genre and is being used more for the setting of other genres. Films like Blade Runner, a Sci-Fi film noir, or Men In Black, an example or a Sci-Fi action-comedy Sci-Fi has come a long way from the space operas of the fifties. The Alien saga is an excellent example of the Sci-Fi horror film. The four films all have the classic components of horror set against a science fiction background. Basic to this genre is the isolation

Great deal! - 4.75 out of 5 (8/2/2004)
Even though in my eternally humble opinion none of the sequels can begin to compare with the original, this is perhaps the best DVD package I've come across. The features for all four films - the backstories, what went into making them, artwork, etc. - are endlessly fascinating, and the alternative versions for each film make it more than worthwhile.

Almost too much - 4.75 out of 5 (2/3/2004)
I purchased this box set purely on its packaging. Sounds stupid, but prooves how much marketing can work. I figured that any movie(s) that make the studio put this much effort into repackaging these films must be pretty darn good! I was right!
I had only seen bits and pieces of the first two on tv, and had never seen the other two. I think they are all quite entertaining, and well worth purchasing (either seperatley or all together).
Now here comes the bad news: The packaging, as pretty a

Completely covers the life of the series - 4.5 out of 5 (1/22/2004)
This box set, while relatively cheaply priced, gives you all the bang for your buck. ( discs is a bit excessive, but it covers every aspect of every film. Alien resurection is a waste of time, with the films Alien, Aliens, and Alien3 ranking in the order they were released. The packaging is magnificent, but easily damamged. Keep good care of this set, it will keep good care of you.
